How to Search Civil Dockets
The official Guadalupe Tyler/Odyssey portal separates Civil/Family Case Records from Probate/Guardianship Case Records. Its help offers Case, Party, Attorney, and Date Filed searches. Court-calendar searches can use the case, judicial officer, or party name. The live entry page returned an access error during research, so retain a clerk fallback instead of treating the portal as the sole route.
Use a cause number when available. For a name search, Tyler requires a last name; a wildcard needs at least three last-name characters, while Soundex broadens phonetic matches. Wildcard and Soundex cannot be combined. A date range or attorney can narrow a common name. Save the date and terms searched because a blank result is not a certified no-record finding.
- Identify the district, County Court at Law, probate, guardianship, or Justice Court route.
- Select the matching portal category and search mode.
- Use the cause number, or combine a party name with a filing-date range.
- Compare the court, parties, filing date, and case type on the result.
- Contact the correct clerk for a missing entry, document, or certified copy.
Guadalupe Civil Search Fields
The portal's rules can explain a failed Guadalupe County civil docket search. Required labels appear in bold red with a red plus. An incomplete case number needs at least four non-dash characters before a wildcard. Party search requires the last name. Date Filed works as a range.
| Search | Useful input | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Cause number | Partial values need four non-dash characters and * |
| Party | Last and first name | Wildcard and Soundex cannot combine |
| Attorney | Attorney name | Confirm party and court |
| Date Filed | Start and end dates | A range may return many cases |
The official Tyler help screen documents these choices.

The help interface records the local categories and field behavior even when the live search route is unavailable.
What a Civil Docket Shows
A Guadalupe County civil docket is the case chronology, not the whole file. It can identify the cause number, case style, parties, attorneys, initiating pleading, motions, settings, orders, and disposition. A case style is the caption. “DWOP” means dismissal for want of prosecution. A nonsuit is a plaintiff's voluntary dismissal subject to court procedure. Read the signed order before drawing a conclusion from either term.
| Cause number | The court key; district assignment letters can include A, B, C, or E. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff and defendant, or petitioner and respondent. |
| Filings | Pleadings, motions, notices, and orders in sequence. |
| Settings | Motion, nonjury, jury, announcement, or other hearing dates. |
| Disposition | Judgment, dismissal, nonsuit, or another recorded result. |
The portal help does not promise every filed document or dynamic result field. Obtain the underlying instrument from the clerk when a short entry is unclear.
Guadalupe Civil Clerk Split
The District Clerk keeps district civil and family pleadings, instruments, and judgments. The County Clerk keeps County Court at Law civil, probate, and guardianship records. This split causes false dead ends when a request goes to the wrong office.
For district civil, divorce, family, and child-support questions, the District Clerk lists 830-303-8873 and dccourts@guadalupetx.gov. For County Court at Law records, the County Clerk lists 830-303-8861 and cccourts@guadalupetx.gov. Both main routes center on 211 W Court Street in Seguin, with clerk service through the Schertz Annex. Mail, phone, email, and the counter supplement online access.

Types of Civil Cases on the Docket
Guadalupe County civil dockets span several courts. District courts hear divorce, title-to-land disputes, election contests, and civil claims above lower-court limits unless another court has exclusive jurisdiction. County Court at Law 1 handles contested probate, all guardianships, condemnations, civil matters up to $250,000, and new hearings on certain JP appeals. County Court at Law 2 also lists civil matters up to $250,000, probate, guardianship, condemnation, and nondisclosure work.
- District civil and family proceedings
- County Court at Law civil and condemnation cases
- Probate and guardianship proceedings
- Justice Court small claims and evictions up to $20,000
- De novo appeals from qualifying JP judgments
“De novo” means the County Court at Law hears the appealed matter anew. The court, amount, cause number, and filed petition provide routing clues.
Guadalupe Probate Docket Route
Probate and guardianship have a distinct category in the Tyler system. County Court at Law 1 handles contested probate and all guardianships, while County Court at Law 2 also lists probate and guardianship jurisdiction. A case caption or calendar may be public even when medical, minor, financial, or protected documents are not.
The County Court at Law 1 page identifies this local jurisdiction.

The court route distinguishes probate settings from district civil cases and lower-court claims.
A request should identify the court, cause number, date range, and desired copy. The County Clerk promotes electronic certification by email, but price and availability should be checked in the live order flow.
Settings and Hearings on Civil Dockets
Guadalupe local rules require a written motion and a signed, e-filed Notice/Order Setting Hearing for a contested civil or family hearing. The assigned coordinator administers the setting. Filing a motion for continuance does not move the date by itself. The change becomes effective only through a signed order or coordinator notice. Check the latest docket and notice before appearing.
Local rules describe mediation before final disposition or jury setting unless waived or handled as directed. A calendar can distinguish civil nonjury, jury week, announcement, motion, or another setting. The individual notice controls over an annual calendar. Remote participation is discretionary and requires approval. The Guadalupe County court calendar explains these setting checks.
Setting check: Confirm court, date, time, appearance method, and signed order. A pending continuance motion is not a new date.
Guadalupe Family Calendar Limits
A family docket date and a family case file are different records. The District Clerk page displayed a County Court at Law family docket link, while Tyler help offers Civil/Family Case Records and calendar searches. Public scheduling does not remove limits on sensitive data.
- Calendar
- The scheduled event, often with less detail than the full case history.
- Case record
- The filings and entries kept by the clerk, subject to access rules.
- Restricted
- Access limited by statute, rule, protective order, or court order.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-authenticated copy from the custodian.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 21c addresses Social Security numbers, account data, birth dates, home addresses, and minor names. Use the least personal search input that works and do not republish protected details.
Public Access to Civil Dockets
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 generally opens judicial records for inspection and copying, subject to exceptions. Court case records follow common law, statutes, rules, and clerk custody. Texas courts explain that adjudicative case records are not simply Texas Public Information Act records. A portal summary may omit filed documents, sealed matters, protected family information, juvenile records, or sensitive data.
A blank result may also reflect the wrong court, spelling, date range, or portal trouble. Confirm the case with the clerk. Certified records are available through clerk channels, including County Clerk eCertify where supported. Ask for current costs because County Clerk fees must not be assumed to apply to District Clerk copies.
Key Rules:
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 governs judicial-record access and exceptions.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 21c covers sensitive-data redaction.
Texas Family Code Chapter 58 restricts juvenile records and identifying information.
Access to a setting does not guarantee access to the full file. Request the specific document from its custodian and describe whether a plain or certified copy is needed.
Guadalupe Civil Docket Copy Choice
A portal view is useful for locating a Guadalupe County civil docket, but it is not the same as a clerk-issued copy. A plain copy reproduces the requested material. A certified copy carries the clerk's authentication. County Clerk eCertify can deliver supported electronic certified records by email in a self-validating format. Confirm the record type and current price in the live order flow.
District Clerk copy fees were not found in the inspected public sources. Ask that office for the exact document, certification, postage, and payment total. Do not apply the County Clerk fee schedule to a district civil file.
